Regular training is an important part of Brigade life. Emerald is no exception to the rule.
The Dandenong Ranges have been named in the list of 52 most fire prone areas in Victoria. All our operational firefighters must be fully trained in all aspects of firefighting.

During the Autumn and Winter months, training mostly concerntrates on Structure fires, motor vehicle accidents to name a couple of subjects. Spring and Summer, intense training covers all aspects of Wildfire Firefighting.

Other subjects covered in training on a regular basis are:

* Basic Fire Ground Practices
* Pump Operation
* Fire Safety Awareness
* Radio Communications
* Breathing Apparatus
* First Aid
* Leadership Skills

Many other courses are run by CFA and the Group to gain further knowledge and qualifications. They include:
*Chainsaw Operator
*Driving Course. Off Road & On Road (MR licence required)
