to the Emerald Fire Brigade website.
Emerald is situated up in the Dandenong Ranges about
an hours drive from the centre of Melbourne.
If you have travelled on the Puffing Billy Railway, you would have
past through Emerald.
Emerald Fire Brigade has been protecting the community for over
60 years, turning out to calls ranging from a cat stuck in a tree
to major bushfires, motor vehicle accident and structure fires.
Firefighters at Emerald are all volunteers from all walks of life.
Firefighters from this Brigade have been to many of the big fires
in the State and further. In 2006 a number firefighters from Emerald
went to the fires at Glenburn and Kinglake. Last year, again, we
committed a number of Firefighters to the North East fires.
